B&W M1 Satellite Speakers - Suggest a Subwoofer (not PV1)

Hi All,

Major upgrade of whole cinema system. Already set on getting a Panasonic DMP-BD55 Blu-ray player and Yamaha DSP-AX863SE amp. I need to get some "slim" speakers, the B&W M1s fit the bill (I don't like the look of the Kef eggs).

Unfortunately my budget is running out, so I can't stretch to a PV1 subwoofer (MT-30 system). The AS2 sub included in MT-20 system is, as I understand it, a bit weak. So, what alternatives are there that would improve the setup whilst keeping the cost down to around £1000 (£625 for five M1 satellites & £300-£400 for a subwoofer). I'll start by asking whether anyone knows if the B&W ASW610 would be an improvement over the AS2?

The system will be used mostly for home cinema not music, and the room is a little under 4m x 4m with quite a high ceiling.

Any advice gratefully received.

Hi, If you can hide it away (not so pretty) and have the space (in a corner), can I suggest the Epos ELS sub, it was rated 5 stars by WHF, it's 300W and I bought mine for £200.00 from Superfi online.

It replaced a REL R205, I had previously, which cost much more, and it sounds much better, my room is 3.5 m X 6.7m feed by a Yamaha DSP-AX763 and it has perfect timing and impact.

Now thats a sub! i had to get rid of mine to appease SWMBO but yeah man genuine below 20hz preformance from a 400 quid sub. the what hifi award winner that costs 950 cant manage that properly

Thanks for the suggestions so far (a few more suggestions would be welcome

Please don't be shy
).

I think the Monolith sub would be a bit over the top whilst I'm still living in an old victorian terraced house. The Epos sub sounds like a best option so far (pun intended).

Has anyone out there partnered a differant sub to a set of B&W M1s and wants to tell me about it?
