Hello everyone!

I’m currently setting up a stereo system in my small living room/home office (about 20 square meters) with a pair of Bowers & Wilkins 606 S3 speakers. I’m now narrowing down my options for an all-in-one amplifier and would appreciate your input. The speakers are placed on a spacious desk.

So far, I’ve tested the Wiim Amp, Wiim Amp Pro, and the Bluesound Powernode Edge. Here’s what I found:

• Wiim Amp: The sound is voluminous and punchy, but I found it to be a bit artificial and plasticky compared to the Bluesound options. It’s now off the list. The Amp Pro didn’t offer a big improvement in my opinion.

• Bluesound Powernode Edge: This one was much more to my liking— more natural, relaxed, and very enjoyable for long listening sessions and background music. I almost never go over 60% of the volume with it, and most of the time stay around 20-40%. The design also fits perfectly on my desk. However, it does lack a bit of punchinnes, which leads me to wonder how the regular Bluesound Powernode might compare.

Has anyone here made the jump from the Edge to the regular Powernode? Will I notice a significant improvement in sound, also in terms of deeper bass or overall performance with the B&W 606 S3s?

Alternatively, would it make sense to stick with the Powernode Edge and use the price difference to invest in a small subwoofer?

Space is a consideration too, as the setup will be on a desk, so I’m limited on size. If anyone has other suggestions, I’d be really grateful!

Thanks in advance!
