Recently come across a Fozgo meter. *scratch_one-s_head*

Anyone had experience of this in depth set up device .?

I can think of less expensive way to do it........
I'd not seen one before, but I used to use the meters on a cassette deck to test output and channel balance! When I get my Koestsu and SME 15 I might treat myself to one of these!

Apparently it needs calibrating, prior to use, details on Musical Surroundings website, but basically you just use a small screwdriver to trim zero point, and the website has some test tones. According to Analog Planet site's Fozgometer owner alert.

More user info on the Vinyl Engine site, if it helps. Have fun.

I think it'll be a few years before I can get the SME! I should've put a wishful thinking emoticon - if I knew how!

I'm about to order a 15. I've been looking at second-hand 20's and even a 30, but have decided instead to go for new.

Looking at an SME V and a Cadenza Black cartridge. I've heard the black on an SME model 10 and it sounded very good. A lot of guys over on Devialetchat use the Black with their Devialets and are very happy with the sound. An alternative arm might be the Origin Live Enterprise....

Nice.

Much that I love Origin Live I think the SME V or even IV are so much more at home on an SME deck, and easier to fit. In my experience the Cadenza Bronze is a better all-rounder but you pays your money....

The IV is 90% of the V for 75% of the money.

For that sort of money the Black can be bettered, but if you like what you hear then go ahead and enjoy, I would take the Kiseki Blue NS anyday and save a couple of hundred. ;-)

If you Dev can handle low-output moving coils you might consider the Benz Micro Glider SL, one of the best cartridges you're going to find for the money and less than half the price of the Black. That's what is going on my deck next.

Personal opinion only you understand, I hope :)

Thanks for this Al. Its really difficult to get to hear different cartridges. I will certainly bear in mind your suggestions. I guess part of the appeal of Vinyl, as with Valve Amps, for me at least, is the fact that you can tailor the sound depending on cartridges, arms and, if you wanted to stretch that far, decks themselves. I totally get that this approach is not for everyone, as most people are simply after a 'good neutral sound'. But for me, this hobby is, in part, as much about the equipment as the sound you get from the end result.

As an aside (and apologies to the OP, as I'm aware that I've completely hijacked this thread), SME seem to be in the process of amping up their TT's after being recently bought out. Somewhat gone is the austere blackness, (which I'm actually a fan of as it's aesthetically pure) in favour of chrome, gold and colour, with bespoke colours a possibility. Interesting times ahead.

Infinite loop _ sorry to hijack but is the regen worthwhile in your honest opinion ?

I think it is, otherwise I wouldn't bother leaving it in the chain. I use it with the Chord Qute I have, which feeds my Valve Amp based system. I don't use it with the Devialet.

I'm sure many on here would dismiss this as 'expectation bias' but, to my ears, the sound is subtly better (i.e. more focused) with it in, than out, of the chain.
