AVR for Monitor Audio Apex 5.1

Hi all,

I've started to build a 5.1 MA Apex system, but I don't have the room for either the final two surrounds or the sub. As such I've turned my attention to the AVR, which I'm aware is currently found wanting.

I understand that I need a fairly high calibre AVR to do the apex system justice and have so far whittled it down to three which I hope are up to the task. They are: Marantz SR7007, Onkyo NR818, and Yamaha A820. I can get all three for between £600'and £800. I did look at the A3010 from Yamaha for the same price, but it's too big for the rack

So which do you think is best suited to the Apex range? Obviously it will depend on my ears ultimately, but wanted to get your thoughts. Maybe I'm missing something even better? Max depth is 40cm.

I would highly recommend trying to fit in a sub somewhere in order to get the best out of the Apex speakers.

Hi David, I do have a sub, just not the Apex sub.

I've narrowed it down to the Onkyo NR818 or the Denon AVR-3313. £130 price difference so inclined to go for the Onkyo.
