Has anyone tried them yet?

Have all my plugs hard wired so don't need them, use circuit breakers instead.

No but I was going to order a pack of Russ Andrews 13 amp silver fuses next month to see whether they boost my mains cable. Who knows, all good fun.

I know Cyril, it won't make any difference but I'm going to do it anyway

I have a fair few upgraded mains cables in my system but I draw the line at upgrading fuses......Sorry but not for me!

I think generally most decent upgraded mains cables will use a better fuse. It's all part of the voodoo. Unfort, the one I bought was nothing more than a figure-eight cable with standard terminations.

I agree, and like you have upgraded a fair few main's cables so am no cable sceptic, but i fail to see how something designed to be a weak link in the system is gonna be improved by silver plating it.

I have noticed the sound improvement from hard wiring plugs, the fuse restricts the headroom of the supply.
For safety you must ensure the wiring is capable of drawing the current rating before the circuit breakers you use instead trip.

You can repeat this rubbish time and time again but it will always remain false, based as it is on your gross lack of understanding about the way electricity and electronics work.

The limiting factor and the biggest IR drop is always going to be caused by the transformers in the units themselves and by using those tranformer based BT conditioners you are more than negating anything you might do to reduce the relatively miniscule and insignificant losses in wires and fuses.

Bit harsh Cyril, everyone is entitled to an opinion, which is what Trev79 has given. You have a different opinion to which you are obviously entitled then this causes a good debate, what facts have both parties to their respective claims?

He was presenting it as fact, not expressing an opinion, and it isn't fact. Electronics isn't a belief system.

Voltage (V) in the system is constant 240v 50Hz supply. Therefore a larger current (I) can be drawn through a lower resistance (r).

As power = V.I then surely with a lower resistance greater power can be drawn??

That is fact!

Well you cant argue with Ohm's law but IMHO, the difference in resistance between a standard wire and a silver plated one at the piddly short length's were talking in a fuse must be negligible.

Cyril, care to give us your credentials, practical experience and Hi Fi system to add weight to your position.

It is at the moment a little light.

You can then go on to explain the benefits of using a large VA rated transformer rather than a small one to draw a given load, say 10Amps. Seeing you say you have knowledge and understanding on these subjects that you contribute to.

Just a thought, a transformer works by the primary winding inducing a voltage in the secondary winding (good old fleming). Therefore more stable power supply in = more stable power supply out, therefore a more stable and cleaner supply to the internal electronics. The losses in a transformer are there regardless of what supply they are fed.

Each to their own, eh? There's probably a middle ground with a lot of this mains malarkey.

Why not, he hides behind his handle, contributes nothing to benefit others and po poes others with far better high end knowledge.

I am all up for a well balanced debate with costructive comments and theories from either side. Shame others cant respond????

I would never "po poe" anyone with "better high end knowledge". I would shut up and listen to them.

Cyril,

All I know is that Trev69 comments are at least backed up with a bit of explanation. My attempts to involve physics could not tempt you to divugle your "what you appear to think is superior intellect?" . Please if you have a valid view backed up with actual facts or are speaking from a position of authority, then share, pray tell with us mere mortals. Otherwise you just appear, as Trev said, to have very little weight to any argument / discussion you may enter.

I cant really comment on audiophile fuses as all my mains cables have had silver plated ones fitted anyways. Im intrigued as to other peoples comments though

What about those that have 'ACTUALLY TRIED' things for themselves as opposed to you who clearly hasnt?
