Text and video review of the ATH-ESW9A headphone. Conclusion: Outstanding sound quality, better than the new Sennheiser Momentum. http://www.hifiheadphones.co.uk/forum/headphone-reviews/1860-audio-technica-ath-esw9a-stereo-headphone-review.html

A very interesting sounding portable Dale! I just heard about the ESW11 LTD:http://www.fujiya-avic.jp/products/detail14492.html

BTW for the ESW9A is your prefered signature with EQ or do you just do that to compare it to the Shure?

That Limited Edition has "R" instead of "Right" like the original. I wonder if it's real?

Unfortunately, in most situations the ESW9A sounds dull without a treble boost. Some of the treble-shy 'phones get close enough to usable highs (ex: v-moda M80) that they can be played flat on a lot of material, but the ESW9A is just out of reach on the average track. I don't like chasing after tone controls etc. in a listening session, so after enough hours I finally settle on a Foobar setting that averages things out so I can sit back and just turn the volume knob and forget anything else.

Hi Dale,

I've just read and watched your review and I'm tempted to give these a go.

Just wondering if the Amazon seller you bought them from was 'Midnight Merchant'? As I've seen a few other posts about fakes.

Thanks for your help and the great reviews!

I didn't pick a merchant for the ESW9A, since it was covered out of Amazon stock. And it was genuine. I did have to pick a merchant for the ES10 since Amazon doesn't cover those.

I really loved my ESW9s - they sounded and looked perfect. I used them all the time.

Until last week, that is, when some b*stard broke into my flat and nicked them, along with my laptop and many other audio related pieces of kit. Oh, and my flatmate's wedding ring and priceless irreplaceable familiy jewellery.

Excuse me while I punch a wall repeatedly.

I hope you can call around to the pawn shops and electronics service shops etc. and maybe snag one of those items, and even trace back to the perp who took it. When I worked at a computer store in Encino Calif., we had a guy came in who wanted to sell us a used computer, so we said "Bring it in later today", and had a policeman waiting for him. He showed up!
