Ask a Question?

I need to do something about that HiFi itch!

I'm actually thinking about replacing my SMSL A300 amp I have in my dining room. The Brio integrated amp caught my eye on eBay, really going cheap second hand.

I've done the Moss Bros. measurements and it will fit snuggly on my shelfing and owning a Rega has always been my guilty pleasure.
In theory I can use the output RCA as my subwoofer connection but without the LFE ( I think I can adjust the frequency range on my SW?)

Two questions

1. Can someone definitively say the RCA output work on my subwoofer, and;
2. The remote, am I able to switch on the amp using the remote, I don't see the little red button on the remote?

A big thank you in advance for your response to my two questions.

Not to be pedantic (!) but that's not a Brio-R, it's the Brio (no -R) that replaced it. Doesn't change your question or the responses though. Rega amps don't have standby, just hard power buttons.
Oh thanks for the correction - it's like my surname, Rogers without the D.......Every year I ask Santa to put a D in my stocking but does he listen? 🙂

I'll just make that correction and my spelling....I need to correct that too, thanks Matthew!

Rega Gear has zero bells & whistles same spec as a amp in the 1950s
SW output coming in 2049 looks like a record out for a tape loop
Connect the Sub to the speaker outputs

RC what sort of trickery is this
I need to check if the SW has speaker terminals for high level input?
Quid's in, if it has.
Yeah it does say record out, can that be used as a normal out?

I did also had a look at the Mission 778X integrated amp and comes with a proper remote, you can wake up from standby - it has a proper Pre-Out, which is good but the width is very slightly over 9.5" and my shelf measures slightly under 9.5"...aaaaghh!

Jason, have look at this titchy Leema Elements amp. They make some cracking stuff (ask any current or past owner), and they are bullet-proof for reliability and build quality.

I've had my Pulse since 2010, and still sounds great on these Dali Rubicon speakers.

No that will be a fixed output, you want it variable.

You should know you never let measurements be a decider Jason 🤨

Can't the upright shelf divider be moved left towards the Klipsch?
(It would if I wanted the Mission amp).

Really nice looking amp, the connectivity is there.
Cheers.
I'm aiming to pay up to £450 second hand but might stretch it a bit, if I see the same a bit cheaper.
Got it on my wish list. Thanks again 😊

Thanks, Gray.
Very glad, you'd clarified this for me.
Ah that's a shame.

I could shift it towards the Kilipsch. It's cheap flat pack, I could glue it closer but this would leave the plug holes exposed.
I guess I can find some plastic DIY caps from B&Q or Homebase.
There's the missus, she won't be impressed 😂
I need to send her away on hols hahaha!
