Are headphone amps worth buying if you have a headphone socket on your amp?

Yes, yes, and yes. Look at the Creek ones. Its something I'm after sooner rather than later. The ones on amps are usually something on an afterthought and, from the ones that I've heard, dedicated headphone amps really get much more out of headphones. HOWEVER, its only worth doing if you are using decent 'phones like Sennheiser HD595, Beyer DT770, Grados etc. Don't bother with £40 headphones.
