High-end AV manufacturer Arcam has revealed that they are currently developing a Blu-ray Disc player to add to their product line-up. The player, which is scheduled to be released sometime next year, will make use of a proprietary platform instead of borrowing from existing manufacturers. No price was mentioned, but with their DVD player weighing in at over $3000, don't expect any bargain player for this UK company.
The delayed introduction of a Blu-ray player for Arcam is due in part to time wasted in development of a hybrid Blu-ray/HD DVD player. Development of that player has been canceled, and all future development will be on a Blu-ray only Player.
