Arcam irdac 2

Anyone brought the new arcam irdac 2 yet as its useing a new chip that they put inside expensive Hifi as well better connections so if you have one I would like your thoughts on it please is it worth buying

internal circuits and a major DAC upgrade

– New audiophile headphone amplifier stage

– New Bluetooth aptX LL input

– New DSD128 support

– New ESS ES9016 Sabre DAC

Have not heard it but it appears to have a nice set of features for the money which, although a reasonably cheap £495, does put it up against some serious opposition. I guess auditioning is the key.

I would be a tad concerned over the 'audiophile' headphone section when you then go and fit it with only a 3.5mm jack.

what's still missing on a market is this set of features plus simple hard drive usb input so it would allow this little boxes to be audio players on it's own..

also, airplay missing

Like the sound of this ... a small Bluetooth aptx DAC, preamp, headphone amp, DSD support, and a good selection of digital inputs. Wonder if they missed a trick in not supporting aptx HD. Good alternative to the now discontinued Musical Fidelity M1-SDAC.

Arcam would want you to buy their AirDAC for AirPlay. You'll never get them to put it all in one box.
