Arcam FMJ A29 comparation

Hello everyone,

I ask if anyone has already heard this apli (Arcam FMJ A29).

I have an old Arcam A32 (2002 model).

I would be interested to know if the timbric is different from my amp or from the latest A38 (2009 model).

I can cosider to upgrade my amp with Arcam FMJ A29.

I had a demo of the A29 last Friday. Sadly the Musical Fidelity M3si kinda eclipsed it in the same demo - it did better the Audiolab 8300a to my ears though.

In a real world setting it'll probably sound pretty neutral and clean it had a good if unexciting balance - worth an upgrade over your current amp?

I doubt it, but the Musical Fidelity M3si would definitely be an upgrade.

For not much more it brings substantial presents and POWWWWEEEEEEEEEEERAAAH! to the music.

Audition if you can.

The modern Arcam sound has more drive and excitement than Arcam's of old, while still holding onto the characteristics that the brand is associated with.....and much the better for it, IMO.

The A29 is new (14 years of difference) but is not the top Arcam Model.

My A32 is old but was the top Arcam Model (2002).

How I can consider this ?

Can my old A32 sound better then the new A29 ?

no, I don't have opportunity to listen.

All I can say is that I would expect it to be "better", but certainly can't guarantee it, as what sound people like is so subjective.

The A32 is an excellent amp. Some people have said the A38 was better but I haven't heard the two together.

If you can't dem the new A29, make sure the dealer has a 'Returns' policy, just in case.
