Hello I am looking at going into the apple media solution to watch movies and music but I do not want to sacrifice quality for convenience. I read apple is releasing 1080p movies but can you buy 24bit apple music just now? Is it only certain albums? Again is it only some movies and if I buy a HD movie with Dolby 5.1 and next year apple has the same movie with dolby HD will the movie upgrade for free?

There are no 1080p films available on iTunes in the UK yet, AFAIK (current HD films are offered in 720p), but presumably Apple will start offering them soon given its recent upgrade to iTunes and Apple TV.

You can rip your own CDs/tracks in Apple Lossless, but at the moment no music is sold on iTunes in 24-bit resolution (it tends to be 256Kbps AAC), although there are constant rumours that Apple may offer high-resolutuon audio files at some point. Clickety

Thank you for the reply Andy. It sounds what I am looking for isn't available yet but will be shortly. I have lots of music stored on a Nas drive in Flac. I bought an iPhone 4s at Christmas and have really enjoyed it. I was hoping to use I match to copy my music and use Apple Tv for saving my HD movies. Having everything saved in one place and being able to access it at home or on the move sounds really appealing.

If you want to watch movies in best quality - you need to rips dvd/bds to ISO and use a media streamer to view them. The video quality of an AppleTV is not good compared to a streamer.
