Hey, getting a R370HD sub, but the cord wont be long enough to rear, and dont have a good power surge extention to hand, or one thats free.

Will any old PC/ kettle cord do?

They are selling a 4m one on fleabay for 5.00 delivered.

Thanks

Sorry, I did reply earlier but as often happens, there was a delay in the post appearing and before it had I had switched sites and forgot to repost.

The 'Kettle' lead will be fine anyway. That's all I posted earlier

Perhaps the 50 who looked have no experience of your particular sub so they don't feel they're able to comment one way or the other - like me!

Yes, electrically, a kettle lead will do in that your sub will work, but my HC sub (KEF3005SE's) definitely benefits from a decent power cable. I'm using a Russ Andrews PowerKord at the moment - the effect has been to make the sub sound deeper, tighter, and more cohesive in that it audibly blends/integrates much more seamlessly with the satellites... which is what you should be aiming for; a sub that doesn't stand-out by noticably throbbing away in the corner of the room. Such a cable may benefit your sub too, or maybe it won't - it's both system and mains quaility dependent in my view. You really have to try these things out for yourself.

Probably quite a few of the 50 looked, thought about posting then decided against it as they didn't want to get involved with another cable discussion.

I use a Chord Superscreen with my sub (part of the Kef 2005.2) and noticed things improved vastly.

I use a Clearer Audio Alpha cable with my sub....found the Chord Superscreen sound too deep, which made it too separated from the rest of the sound....the CA alpha blended in nicely....

The Chord is working wonders with my tv now, though......

I would love to buy a nice power cable, as I heard they can make a difference with electronics, but I cant afford the 40-60.00 they cost, and at 4meters, could be more.

Thanks for the replies guys, I never asked anyone to jump into a debate about whats better or anything, like the HDMI battle.

I just wanted to know if a normal kettle cord would be ok, as not sure of amps and volts ect.

Thanks again

Indeed, and I should point out I certainly wasn't saying you shouldn't ask. It's just these kind of innocent questions inevitably lead to debates and some people with valid opinions can no longer bear being part of it and therefore, unfortunately, just don't bother posting any more.
