Hi All,

I have an old (2003) Sony STR-DB1070 amplifer which powers an REL sub, Mission 783 centre and side speakers and a pair of di-polar Mission rear speakers.

It's been a superb system which has moved houses with me a few times. Following my recent move, I set the system up but was mortified when all of my speakers only play sound through the high frequency tweeters, the main speakers (low frequencies) appear to be not functioning..... only the sub.

I've checked and doubled checked my wiring, but cannot find fault. Is the amp ready for the scrapheap? I cannot imagine that all the speakers are faulty.

Any help/advice would be much appreciated.

sorry mate - perhaps a techy can give you more info tomorrow - but I think you've either broken all of your speakers in exactly the same way, or your amp's a gonner.

Upgrade time, methinks.

Well if it is knackered your last amp is obviously discontinued so....

Are you thinking what I'm thinking? Nice insurance people replacing it with a newer model with the latest HD sound and HDMI connections? Wouldn't be the end of the world really would it?!!

Lol,

Thanks guys! I guess I'll take the amp into my local friendly and cheap (cough) audio/visual shop and see if it works on their speakers or not.

Yeah I guess it is upgrade time.... should I get all new speakers or any ideas on a nice amp to run what I have?
