Hi all,

Is there any way of stopping the TV from trying to update? The message pops up at the most random times!

My Kuro isn't connected to my TV aerial, so it probably can't update anyway.

Thank you

I can't recall the exact message, but it wants to look for new software updates and scan for new channels.

Seriously, it sounds like you've got "Software update" turned on (which it is by default) and the lack of aerial is causing the TV an issue:

- Home Menu / Setup / DTV Setup / Software Update / Auto Update / On

Turn this Off and see if it helps.

Sounds like that could be it, I will try it tonight.

Thank you!

cstanwhf:Could be your Sky+HD or PS3 asking for updates instead?

No, it's definitely the TV, I have to close the menu using the Kuro remote.

Yes, I get this message too...and it's always at the same time every night. Just haven't bothered the trawl thru the menus to turn it off.

It looks like Scene's advice has worked:

Home Menu / Setup / DTV Setup / Software Update / Auto Update / On

You have to be on the DTV input to be able to get into the menus.

Just checked Pioneer website.

There is a firmware update issued for the LX5090 & LX6090 models issued on 1st June 2009 (the last update issued for KRP 500A & 600A was on 1st June 2008)

I don't think it's an important update:

Firmware History File

PDP-LX6090H

Wrong translation in time setting for SAT in Germany.<BR>
"This channel is not in service" is displayed while watching DVB-T "freeview"<BR>
When using DVB-S, special Czech characters in EPG are wrongfully displayed.<BR>
Missing/incorrect TXT characters via satellite on channels Nederland1, 2, 3 and BVN<BR>
The name of a manually configured satellite remains blank in the SEARCH menu<BR><BR>

Ver. 0907-0701
- The update adds DVB-T support for Norway

Ver. 0905-0601

Typical, there is no aerial lead going into it now as I have upgraded from just sky to sky+hd.

If I just put an aerial lead into the tv as terrestial has been wripped out the house now do you think this would work it so I can switch the update off??
