On AV or Stereo.......or both?

A general overview on both.
It is a wonderful system, and the culmination of a 37 year journey.plastic penguin said:Not OTT at all, Cno. Sounds darn good to me.
I personally like to hear bass, refusing to suscribe to bass being so taut it has the depth of a transistor radio. I love to feel the sound, if that makes sense (not chest thumping) but a sound that makes the hairs on the neck stand up and you think "yeah, that's the real deal."
From my one and only audition of high end Kefs left me the overwhelming feeling of presence and realism.
Wonderful system, Cno. Enjoy!
CnoEvil said:It may be a quick question, but not such a quick answer:
CnoEvil said:This is due to the very remarkable AVR600, which didn't quite get the recognition it deserved as a technical "tour de force" due to the persistent problems.
CnoEvil said:That centre speaker makes a huge difference, and the realism and "slam" it gives is nothing short of breathtaking.
CnoEvil said:The Kef IQ system is ideal for AV, as it means that there is a much bigger sweet spot for those not sitting in the ideal position.
RickyDeg said:WOW --- your system is ever so gorgeous! And great photos to show it off!

It all looks great and very very potent...But I must say the center is the one catching my eye on it...It is huuuuge. Looks like a front speaker laid sideways 🙂 And I bet is more powerful than the fronts of many of us 🙂 I suppose the speech is ever so clear and expressive - something so important in watching movies 🙂
Congrats on your hard work in setting-up such a gorgeous system 🙂
WishTree said:I thought I saw all the pictures though I did not recognize the IQ range but all reference range. Are you talking about a different set up? Kind of lost 🙁
WishTree said:Sorry.. I must have missed that.. I heard the MF M6i but not the AMS. Also heard Titan. Please do understand that those were early days when I heard the Titan and I had no real reference (at best Arcam AVR 600). I do not remember the pre-amp or speakers as I was doing many auditions that day and got to hear Titan for 15 minutes as the dealer wanted to show what their best sounds like (ipon my insistence, a bit). The sound was very clean and spaces were very very quite as the top of the memory.
Pathos Inpol2 happened to me an year later. I heard the M6i in quite a few occasions. Actually I did a back to back comparision of M6i with Arcam AVR600 (With several speakers including Dynaudio Focus 360, B&W CM9 and some more which were there in the audition room) and I preferred the stereo sound imaging of Arcam much better than the M6i. There is a lot of musicality in Arcam where as the M6i sounded brute and detached to me.
unfortunately never heard the AMS35i
I also got a Classe CA 2100 to run with Classe SSP 800 so that I can retire the integrated (Classe CAP-2100) to make the system easier. I know it is a lot of money (atleast, for me 😉 ) to spend on a pre-pro but 'resistance was futile' ! The idea is to run just one system with Classe SSP 800 as prepro and CA 2100 to drive the front two channels and get a 3 or 5 or 7 channel amp for the rest of the HT system. Once everything is in place I will start a new thread to share my experience! I already have a new found respect for a pre-amp (the other day ran the M-DAC as DAC+pre and CAP 2100 as only Power VS M-DAC as DAC with CAP 2100 as integrated, and then I understood how important it is to have a good pre-amp. Classe retailed their earlier only analogue pre-amp CP 700 at 8750 Euros!) so hope fully the new set up should be able to make me hear a little more.
And yes, please do not remind me about the speakers upgrade 🙂
CnoEvil said:.I deliberately didn't mention speakers, as your wallet needs (some) recuperation time (then I'll be back - you can count on it).
FWIW. I think you were right to get the front end/amp sorted out - now almost any speaker is going to sound its best.
....though, after less time than you might think, you will say to yourself, "if it sounds this good with cheaper speakers, just imagine........"
You're back on track, my friend
Cno
Jax, that means a lot, especially given the quality of your system.jaxwired said:I'm late to the party on this thead, but I had to comment on your system Cno. Wow! What an all out assault on home cinema! And so neaty done. Brilliant!
I'm a big fan of KEF speakers. No doubt it sounds as good as it looks. Well done my friend.
