Only WHF could write an article about open back headphones and not mention Sennheiser.
I thought they were a toy when I first saw a pair but the Sennheiser HD414 (ALL HAIL THE HD414s) were the first open back headphones. They also sounded pretty good and were really comfortable.
Surely an accolade worth a mention.

I just got a backup set of Sennheiser HD598s because I wouldn't want to be without should my current ones fail or should I fail them.

I also like my closed Sony 7506s, though, and I've had those for much longer. While these are my second set, I don't need a backup because they may never be discontinued.
