EDIT: I’m sorry, this should be in the turntable section

I’m pretty new to vinyl and bought me an AT-LPW40WN a couple of months ago. I’m using the build in pre amp on the turntable together with my old Marantz SR5003 receiver (which has no phono pre-amp) and two B&W DM602 speakers.

Sometimes I plug my Beyerdynamic headphones straight into the turntable. I always have the impression the sound is better with my headphones plugged straight into the turntable, even if I compare by plugging the same headphones into my SR5003 receiver.

I was thinking about buying an amplifier to replace the receiver. I really like Marantz and was looking into the PM6007. The idea is that a decent amplifier should do a great/better job than a av receiver if you just want to play some vinyl. With the PM6007 I could also use the Marantz pre-amp instead of the turntable build in pre-amp. Do you guys think the PM6007 would be an improvement compared with the SR5003 or not?

I reckon you would find that it is - though possibly not as much of an improvement as you might be expecting.
A few of us have been more than happy with the phono stages built into Marantz amps and you would have the option to compare with the one in the AT.

If you could arrange to get a 6007 on home loan, you'd be able to answer your question better than anyone here could.
