Hi,
I have two Klipsh R820F speaker to power but I don't know which ampli chose. I was in doubt between Audiolab 6000A and NAD C328 but I'm open to consider others.
Do you have any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
Cheers
Erik
Hi, I do not know how big is your room and how loud and which music you like to listen.
Some remarks: Klipsch R820F are solid, well performing big columns with several typical Klipsch characteristics:
1. They are more american way of hifi, means mainly for home cinema than for 2 channels.
2. They have a lot of bass, bass go down to around 35 Hz, subwoofer not so needed. But in this generation bass has better shape and definition and not so booming as previous generation.
3. Treble area is quite improved, better connected to mids than before, less bright ( this was also often character of Klipsch - and masked by using good tube amps)
4. Klipsch say, these speakers are 97dB sensitive but some basic tube amp will have a big problem to control the bass here.
What does this mean?
You need quite substantial amp here. Audiolab 6000A is a terrific small amp but not for those big speakers. NAD 328 will be even weaker in speaker control department. Something like Nad 368, Cambridge Audio CXA 81, Rega Elex, Rotel A14 or similar will work very good with your speakers. I recommend to make a listening test of amp with your speakers before you decide to buy the amp. BR.
