PP, I would throw 2 amps into the mix.

Bel Canto C5i

Ayre AX-7e (ex-dem) - though I fear it is as rare as Rocking Horse dung.

Edit. Very left field suggestion (and a blast from the past): Onix Audio DNA-50. I have never heard one, or even seen a review, but it's from a pedigree company.

Well I second the naim /pmc combo but think I'd be looking at a used supernait or 200 series pre/power..if I was spending 2k .used of course.....but certainly nothing wrong with the xs or a new xs2.probably the most reliable used brand around....naim can service anything they've ever made..even the first nait can be seen from time to time on eBay...still making good money.

Also seconding the Naim/PMC faction -- it's a magical combination and I love my XS2 and 25.23 combo. My only regret: I didn't go for a Supernait 2, which would drive my PMC with even better. I didn't dare to listen to the SN2, as I was already way over the budget I negotiated with my wife...

Anyway, despite massively overspending, I was granted an upgrade. But there is a big BUT -- I need to start some exercising. Oh dear... Thinking about a rowing machine -- at least I wouldn't need to leave the house. And hello says the Supernait -- or maybe an external DAC for my ND5XS... *biggrin*

Like Drummerman I've only heard the version 1 XS. They are in the same ballpark as the Pulse, so whether XS2 is a large step up I don't know until I hear one.

which one do you think .... hegel h180 or just go for the welder h360 *dirol* i have my welding glasses on *drinks*
But didn't PP say nothing Scandinavian? Otherwise I'd have mentioned my recent purchase.

How about:- Rotel RA-1592, Denon PMA-2500NE, Marantz PM-14s1 SE, or Blacksabbath's beautiful Yamaha?
he is not interested in the Yamaha it does not float his boat but if you pair my Yamaha with the right speakers it's a neutral sound full stop ! And plays instruments how they should be played . it also so has a very good phono stage for his new TT when he gets it .

but I do understand that he wants something special and a step up from what he has now but it's hard on here to say what's good because he might not like what we think is good So my opinion is only PP knows himself what he wants and sure he will find what he is after in the end .

No, I didn't say anything about your amp. I said "I've heard older high end Yams and they didn't tug my rug".

And no, any Scandanavian brands I'm not interested in.

Have you considered leema?

PP, there's a couple of Accuphase on the bay... E350, over budget by a bit, but worth every penny, not sure if that ones got a phono stage though and E405 for £2200 which does have phono stage.

Another couple of brands to consider... Exposure? or Sonneteer.

Why not just be done and get a Tucana?

Keeps the British thing with the PMC too.

It'll drive any future speaker change/upgrade.

You know you want one.

Looks good too.
