Hi All, I have been recomended these speakers and was wondering what amp would get the best sound out of them, i think i'm going down the bi wire route and cables around £5 per meter. I will be streaming my music through spotify and I listen to mainly funky jazz and reggae. My budget is £500. Your experiance and thoughts would be appreciated. cheers bob

Bob, you say they have been recommended, can you actually get to listen to them yourself?

It is more important to make sure the speakers suit your listening room / your ears rather than worrying about theamp.

Hi Bob,

Those Q-acoustics shouldn't be too demanding and from what I've heard will offer up a lot of bass.

I remember you have a large space to fill - maybe worth looking on e-bay for a second hand Roksan Kandy K2 for around £500 rather than getting a less powerful budget amp new. Supposedly unfussy with other kit and will provide plenty of power to fill your space.

I'd recommend the Marantz Pearl Lite amp too based on your love for jazz, funk & soul - it's a touch warm which is nice for those styles, but not at the expense of clarity and it has plenty of power & punch especially at higher volumes. Shouldn't disappoint with whatever you play.

If you can't get a home demo, or even get to a dealer, either Roksan or Marantz pairing with the 2050i's should be a safe bet and you would be able to sell on without much loss if you do find it doesn't suit your taste.

There will be plenty of other opinions and everyone has different taste of course, but without hearing for yourself you might just have to take a punt.

Nice one, i will be going to richer sounds for a demo, i spoke to them about speakers, i will be listening to Monitor Audios bx5 and 6's and maybe others in that sort of range, the lad in the shop seemed to think that the 2050i would suit my music taste and style. i just thought i would go in there with an idea of what amp would be suitable.

i'v been lead to belive some shops punt some brands more than others or need to shift a product thats been sat around for a while. They also always seem to mention cambridge audio, not a name i have seen on any posts, what i have read other places seem to give a good review but as i dont know anything i'm a bit wary.

They did suggest buying 2 losts of speakers so i can try them at home on a 14 day money back gaurantee, could be a good idea.

I am getting excited though cant wait to get a good set up:grin:

Thanks for the feed back

I think Richer Sounds is still the only place selling CA stuff, so they're bound to promote it. Make some fine products I'm sure, I've never actually heard any to comment on.

They should have the Roksan Kandy K2 in there in their premium section, worth hearing it against a cheaper models, perhaps Yamaha's AS500, Marantz PM6005 or Cambridge Audio 651.

The Yamaha could be interesting for you as it has a sub woofer output in case you ever want to add more bass, and a powerful 85w output. Never heard it to comment on sound quality, but it was an award winner a few years back, is stacked with features and costs half of what you budgeted for. You could even add a network streamer like Denon's DNP720AEor Cambridge Audio's NP30 for £200 and still be under budget.

Unless it's a large demo room, you'll probably find a big difference between how it sounds in your large space back home, worth bearing in mind if the BX6 for example sounds boomy - given more space and plenty of power they might be just what you are looking for. I've heard BX5's plenty of times and bass isn't lacking in a normal sized room but you might be happier with the BX6 if its within budget. Build quality is first class on the BX speakers too, they look far more expensive than they are.

I have seen a deal from sevenoaks in bristol offering Q Acoustics 2050i and either cyrus 6a amp for £939 or Arcam FMJ A19 for £899, i will pop in when i'm at home and check them out, but any thoughts which would get the best out of the Q 2050i? I'm in the middle of the sea at the moment so i'm surfing the web for deals and knowledge.

Cheers.
