Hello, i need amp for B&W 683 speakers. What amp you recommend for these speakers? Price is up to $1200 Maybe denon PMA-1500AE

Whatever you get, the 683s although supposedly sensitive are big speakers and need grunt to drive them. As you can see from my sig, I have the 683s and use a power amp (on the upper and mid) and an integrated amp on the LF. The addition of the power amp made a huge difference. Can't comment on the Denons. In the price range, would you consider the Cambridge Audio 840A? Otherwise you might struggle a little unless you would consider going second hand? Often a good option whether or not money is tight!

if you don't mind 2nd hand, have a closer look at a Musical Fidelity A5 integrated ....
I used one recently on loan and worked very well with my old B&W speakers .... plenty of power (250 watts @ 8 ohms)
a good used one on ebay UK sells for approx £800

I think denon is better than marantz, because i have heard that denon bought 70% marantz stocks. Its so hard to choose, because i am going to buy amp from internet, so i cant listen at hifi shop. I like all music styles except metal, hard rock. Thanks for answers.
That's a dangerous game buying without demo'ing. If you buy the wrong amp you'll kick yourself.

I've had these speakers. I'd have to say that the sensitivity ratings are bloated (actual tests from other publications kind of prove this), so you need quite a bit of power to run them.
I agree that the PM8003 or the CA840A can sufficiently drive these towers in most cases. You'd want lots of grip with these speakers, as the lows have a tendency to sound loose.

Denon and Marantz are now owned by the same company, but don't let this lead you into believing one is better than the other purely based in this fact. Both companies still produce their products in the same they they always have, and there will be differences between them.
Personally I'm not big on Denon amplification, but they produce some good value for money budget stuff. I would prefer the Marantz as far as sound quality goes.

as always, it also depends on what the 'hifi salesman' has in his stock and where he makes the most commisions
