Alternative to Bose Acoustimass 6

I would like to buy a new home cinema system for music and movies, i heard the bose system in someones house before and it sounds good but im looking for an alternative that would sound as good if not better- i've had the Boston Soundware XS before and it was good but didn't have the full sound of floorstanding ones i've had in the past. I'd like floorstanding ones, any suggestions?

what do you already have,av amp, bdp,also budget for the speakers.

Dont have anything, will be starting again- budget about £600ish for the av receiver and speakers

It's going to be tight getting both on that budget, might have to stretch it a bit if you can. You could try something like the Yamaha RX-V377 (now available for around £180) and the Q Acoustics 2000i 5.1 package for around £550 (I realise they are not floorstanders, but they are very good).

as andy says thats a very tight budget,the q accoustics 2000i is a great system,if you got it and have a look at second hand for the av amp.
