Its a funny one.
When the oppo 203 was released it had more bugs than a season of I'm a celebrity. Lots of people backed them out of frustration its taken months for oppo to get in front.

Whenever they release a new windows its constantly being updated due to a gazillion bugs.

Maybe thanks to this the world now accepts flaws being fixed over time as opposed to expecting perfection from day one.

I can see it from both sides

I will (and have - I own an AVR600) put up with a lot, provided:

- It gives me a SQ that I have been unable to find elsewhere, for the price.

- It gets sorted.

Others feel differently.

Exactly, but I don't know why we do. I have a Naim n-Vi where the front screen has faded to nothingness. The cost of fixing it is a mere £595. What a joke. The UnitiLite, or UnitiShyte as you say in Ulster, hasn't played CD-r discs since day 1. Naim's customer service (sic) blamed it on the blank disc being yellow book not red book. Then they took 6 weeks to return my discs. The discs work in the Uniti though. Ahh the Uniti. Naim's claim that their products are always upgradeable comes with a pinch, nay, table of salt. The cost to add Spotify Connect is 'only' £254.

Then you listen to them singing an all is forgiven.

Well, it's good to know I'm not mad....either that, or there are now 2 of us.

i I agree the Oppo did have issues with bugs and most of the other 4k players have the same issues but what I do not like is when they bring a product onto the market and the most basic functions do not work properly that’s bad .

...got a demo booked out of interest, but I am expecting them to sound a bit boxy, and not having enough depth. Thanks.

Just to add balance.....I have standard LS50s and they sound (imo) the opposite of that. I haven't heard the W version, but would expect them to be better again. I think that their weakness atm is in the whole steaming operation, so I suppose it depends how much of an issue that is for you and when it will be sorted. Maybe Kef UK can answer that.

FWIW. Coming from Roksan/Dynaudio, I think they will suit your taste well.....but that's what the demo is for.

...as in “steaming pile of”? :) Sorry Cno but you cannot defend a £2K product which does not work properly going to market, however good you think it sounds. It is sold as a streaming and wireless speaker which is currently stretching the boundaries of truth.

I understand your anger toward the faulty streaming functions but did you place isolation feet ontop of each speaker before evaluating the sound?

You surely mean the router, if it’s a wireless product?!

Andrew got some jbl porn footage today.

Especially for you. Running off a Levinson setup sounding Mega
That must’ve been the snappily named JBL 4367 with the compression horn tweeters. Decent ‘live’ dynamics and very enjoyable to listen to. Did you notice all the lenses were removed from the ceiling lights, presumably to stop them rattling!

That would make it, "Horn Footage".....maybe it's one and the same. *diablo*

Ha, Ha, I’d say the Mark Levinson gear was definitely porn, though pretty subtle compared to the looks of some. And they operate sublimely. The JBL are just whopping, as you see so few big woofers these days. They must be 15”, quite a rarity.

The 4367 derives directly from JBLs legendary 4320, arguably the first, purpose buil studio monitor. Like most JBL product of that period is was a mix and match selection from JBLs pro catalogue but the cabinet was purpose built for studio use.

Thanks for that background, dave. I remember the first pair of Centuries I heard, if they were the ones with the egg box foam, in orange. These new ones made a good case for efficiency over purity, being 94dB and 300 watt handling, so peaks were effortless.

The 4320s were so successful that a smaller 12 inch 'Control Room Monitor' was built, this was the original 4310. The Century L100 was the hi-fi version that followed closely the developement and mods made to the 4310s.

Left to right, 4311, L100A, L100 and 4310.

If I remember correctly, the L100 was the hi-fi version of the 4310, the L100 was improved to become the L100A, one of the biggest selling speakers of all time and this improvement was worked back ito the pro market, producing the 4311.

When the L100A was launched in the UK they cost £312 pr, about twice as much as the top british speakers of the day, such as Spendor BC1/11, Celestion Ditton 66 and Quad Electrostatics.
