I have about £1700 to spend on a home cinema system. I have thought about the sony BDV-IT 1000 Blue Ray but was also told I should look at separetes. Any ideas what would be best - if i wend for separates any suggestions what would work well around the budeget amount?

thanks for your advice!

Hi Chewy (feel like I am in star wars)

I would go for sperates at that price.

The B&W MT20, the denon AVR-2310, one of the sony blu ray players ie 360 or 760. If you could find the lot in stock at one shop they would offer a discount - (if you could use some jedi mind tricks on them).

That would be the route I would take.

May the force be with you.

Hi Gel

Its my kids into Star Wars, honest - they call him chewbackbear!

thanks for the advice. The room i have is quite small and I've read quite alot on the forum about speaker size. I need I guess what are being called in the forum 'lifestyle speakers' and ideally wireless. I'd like to be able to use as a full multimedia roop - laptop etc.. Will your suggestions do the trick? I'm also looking at TV's and am favouring the Sony KDL52Z4500 - any views on that would be great!

thanks

With the B&W MT20 speaker's yes they will fit into any room, I would say perfect. As for wireless speakers no they are not.

Wireless speakers are very hard to get hold off and quite often not very good. Also with you having your laptop and using it as a multimedia place, the wireless speakers would not work with your laptop in the same room.

I will have a look at the sony tv for you, are you sure you want a tv that size if your room is quite small?

Thanks

I have been looking at your tv - it gets good reviews but I would say definetely not know I would recommend this.

A philips 42PFL9803H from rgbdirect.co.uk for £1049.00 previously £2,000 and got brilliant reviews at that price.

Then you could with the extra cash go for B&W MT30 the PV1 sub sounds amazing with the millenium falcon.

I am sure your kids will be mighty impressed.
