Hi,

I am looking for advice on what are good second surround sound systems for £400. I would like a subwoofer and rear speakers. I have been looking at the Sony BDV-E4100.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Have you considered putting one together yourself?

Have a look on Ebay, you can pick up a decent Sony 7.1 AV amp for less than £100,

Q Acoustics 2000 series speakers: About £80 for a centre speaker and £50 to £60 per pair for front rear and side (or run at 5.1 and save £100) or less for Tannoy Eclipse (decent sound but look old fashioned compared to the Q's)

All in for not much more than £300 then you just need to find the sub.

The beauty of doing it this way, you can get it a piece at a time when the price is wright.

Fabulous. What Sony 7.1 would you recommend?

From about 2013 they all started looking the same and are all good. The line-up generally had a budged version £300 to £400 and a higher end version £1,000+. Any of the budget options should be coming in at or below £100 on ebay. look for: STR-DN850, STR-DH790, STR-DH590, STR-DH540

I called them 7.1 (thats how I use mine), but they are actually 7.2 if you ever want to add an extra sub.
