Hi everyone!

Just a quick quesiton: I've been looking at the AKG perception line ( K44 K77 K99) on ebay, and I noticed that a lot of those headphones are just, say, "K99", and not "K99 Perception" .

There are also some other aesthetic differences between these two 'versions': for example the 'perception' ones don't have the AKG logo on the earpad http://www.downbeat.com/newsletter/art/201208_TS_02.gif, while the 'non perception' do http://cdn.head-fi.org/2/2d/300x300px-LS-2d08ba67_B001GF7WRW-41KY2Bcel-HL.jpg)

Is there any actual difference between the two?

Thanks a lot guys!

I think they're exactly the same in the photos! The official website just calls them all "perception". I'd be wary of eBay sales for these to be honest so buy from a reputable dealer (unless they are an outlet or suchlike on eBay). What is your budget by the way, types of music and is it for home listening? We can give you some alternatives then. :)

Thank for your quick response pal!

Actually, I've just found out that the 'K99' are the old version (discontinued: http://www.akg.com/K99-1289.html?pid=1834) of the newer 'K99 Perception' (http://www.akg.com/K99+Perception-827.html?pid=1193).. I guess there are not many differences between them, although I'm not sure of that.

Anyway, your suggestion are most welcome! I was looking for some headphones to play guitar with: I have aLine 6 POD xt live which works as an amp simulator and effect board (no need of an actual amp!) so I need some cans that don't "colour" the sond, as I have plenty of effects for that.

Also, I was looking for semi-open design, since I don't care if some of the sound leeks out or the environment rumors come in (i don't plan to use them outside the house, and for recording purposes I connect directly the board to the pc); also from what I've read around, semi-opened models manage to reduce the "headphone feel" and produce a more 'real-life-speaker' kind of sound.

Last, but not list, my budget is around 40£ (but of course I can do something more in front of a bargain!)

Thanks again for your help!!

I think for your uses, the Beyerdynamic DTX710 will do you just fine.
