AirPlay problem

Hi all, I updated my iphone the other day and gave airplay a try from phone to airport express via itunes and spotify both seemed to work well. I came to do it again the other night and the airplay icon is not appearing on the spotify app or on the ipod bit of my iphone. Does anyone have any idea why it might have gone? my phone is working fine via wifi and the airport works direct from my laptop. Any help would be great.

I've noticed this too on occassions, quite frustrating. I have to shut down my ipod touch completely and restart it to bring the icon back. No idea if there is a simpler way to fix it or make the airplay icon more permanent.

Yes, I've had the same problem. Rebooting the iPhone/Touch seems to be the only way to get it back, but it does the trick.

You could try assigning all of your wifi devices a manual ip address. I noticed whilst using a rubbish talktalk modem with my apple tv and ipad, whilst trying to connect the two my laptop mysteriously started popping up with ip errors on the console. It helped stabilise my network a bit, but in the end I connected a better router by ethernet to the talk talk modem and bypassed its own router which sorted everything out.

Also, if you are in ios 4.x try bringing up the app switcher, and close the ipod app in there. sometimes it saved a hard reset.

On and off on the phone seems to have worked, it is a bit annoying, hope it doesn't happen alot!

Paul it's interesting you mention about rubbish talk talk routers (which I also have) I have been thinking of getting a new one may think about it in the near future.
