Since i have had my atv3 i have found that using my ipad2 to airplay spotify and leaving my pc on 24/7 with itunes running im even listening to my alac files on it , I know its connected via hdm to my av amp and my my squeezebox is through my dac magic its quite close and i cant see my using my squeezebox again soon.

So my main question is my accer laptop often says itunes not reponding when i try and alter info ect and in general itunes seems alittle slower than media monkey or even j river. So would a mac mini be a good buy to run itunes on 24/7 and then just let my atv3 see my itunes content i am starting to build films from itunes well i have 2 at present but started last week, Ive been reading that it runs at 10w and when called on it runs at about 85w. It looks for 500 the basic one good value. And is it straight forward that itunes runs better on mac than pc

Is there anyone out there who uses an apple tv for music and if so how do run itunes or what do you run itunes on. Plus what would the major downsides be for making mt atv3 my default music player.

For ATV3, you need iTunes to be running somewhere.

I much prefer an ATV1 with an expanded hard drive. Synch everything to it using ethernet and leave it alone.

You can then use the ATV without switching a PC on, controlling it with an iPhone (maybe similar?) or the remote. For just music, you can just use the phone and not even switch the TV on. This is my primary method.

I have my laptop on 24/7 for my squeezebox server so itunes is also running 24/7. I think im going to buy the app off the play store double twist to allow me to send music via airplay to atv3. I doing some research on the mini mac its £500 and it seems to suspend itself down to 10w when not in use and wakes in 5 seconds over the ethernet as soon as i switch the atv3 on. But thanks for the phone idea ill look at that and get a 32micro sd card init.
