Ithink Monitor Audio GS 20 would do a good job. Woil anybody help me on yhis choice?

Wow - your amp is a bit of an old classic
emotion-11.gif
- with 25+25 W output it might struggle to drive the GS 20's

There is data on your amp here http://www.classicsansui.net/images/Literature/Integrated%20Amplifiers/AU-777A/AU-777a%202.jpg

Actually a little more digging on my part reveals that your amp may have as little as 12W RMS per channel output.

If you want floorstanding speakers then you might be better off looking at

KEF IQ5SE

Mordaunt Short 904i

Wharfdale Diamond 9.4

But TBH I think a compact standmount might be easier to drive.

Thank you very much for your advise and research. However I think the AU777A is not the same as AU777 Solidstate Stereo Amplifier.

In fact I do not know exactly what is the output but I think it should be around 100 W. The truth is that up till now, it has been dring a pair of Sansui speaker ES 200 admiting 50 w each, with no problems at all.

Please excuse my english. I am Portuguese.

Best regards

Your english is far better than my Portuguese.

I obtained the data of RMS power output for the AU777 from an enthusiast web site

Is this your amp? http://www.classicaudio.com/value/san/AU777.html

There is further information here http://www.sansui.us/AU-777.htm

RMS power is a much lower figure than "music power" which was often quoted back then.

With the higher power of modern amplifiers speakers have also become a little harder to drive. This is why I suggested the alternatives which will all be easier to drive than your original suggestion.

Do you have any way to test your amp with the speakers you would like? Is there a dealer in your area who would allow you to connect your amp to your chosen speakers?
