Advice on Technics SL 1310 mk2

I currently own a Technics SL 1310 mk 2.

Its in good condition except from the mechanism that pushes up the arm, which is broken.

I'm thinking about selling this one and buy a new Pro-ject Essential II.

3 questions;

- Is this a stupid move? And why?

- What would be a fair price for my turntable? It still looks really good and includes the dust cabin.

- Has somebody had the same experience with the broken mechanism and any advice on fixing this?

I can't help you but I would suggest that you post this question in the VinylEngine forum, some great guys over there with a wealth of knowledge.
