Hi all,
Looking for some advice regarding speaker to amp cabling. I am setting up my first, budget Hi-Fi system. The turntable I have is the Pro-Ject Essential II, and the amp I have bought is the Pioneer A10 (http://m.richersounds.com/#!/product/pion-a10-blk). I am looking at buying these speakers, Microlab F330 2.1's as they have excellent reviews and are within my budget - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Microlab-FC330-Model-System-Speaker/dp/B0040N3BQI Could someone advise me what cable I'll need to connect these up to the amp (there are images of the amp outputs on the link given above), and if possible whether the speakers (or amp) are likely to come with this cable? Many thanks,Tom.

It looks like the microlab speakers are meant for use within a desktop system and not a regular integrated amplifier, check out richer sounds for some passive speakers within your budget for the pioneer integrated amp.If you can stretch your budget to around £80,the Q acoustic 2010i's get good reports.

Thank you for your comment. Many users have commented that the amp works excellently with their turntables. I have actually ordered these speakers now, though I can return them if necessary. Is there a way to get them hooked up? I would appreciate advice on this!

Any decent speaker cable will do Tom. I have a reasonably priced system in the bedroom not disimilar to the one you describe and I use QED speaker leads at about £5 a meter which sound great. Make sure you get a good 'clean' connection between terminal and wire if you use bare wire, or get the shop to solder decent gold or silver plated plugs on the leads if using banana plugs. Also remember to 'phase' the speakers so that the positve/negative signals are the same for both speakers, and have the leads going in the direction indicated on the lead. Some speaker wire has arrow indicators, with others use the direction of the logo or any writting on the wire going away from the amp and towards the speakers.

John,

Read the three again and you will see he is trying to connect a powered 2.1 speaker system to a stereo amp.

It isn't going to work, even though your post on speaker cable is informative.
