Hi, could someone please help and pass on their wisdom / knowledge on purchasing a reasonably priced 50in TV. The TV will be mainly used to watch Sports and play games console. I have a budget of £1,000 and I don't mind if its a plasma or a LCD. At the moment I have a 37in Samsung and sometimes find the picture playing catchup when watching live sports. Also have 3 young kids who I know will not leave the speakers alone if I put up a separate home cinema kit, so something with a good inbuilt sound system will be appreciated.

Cheers for your help.

Hi,

Have a look on play.com. There are a few plasmas within your budget but most if not all are hd ready, not full hd. I donït know whether or not thatïs important to you. Iïve also seen a few samsung 50" plasmas at under 1k. I havenït seen any 50" lcds at that price though, but there may be a few.

The panasonic 50" tx p50x10 is £1039, or £799 on play.com. Itïs not full hd, but the 42" got a 5 star review from this site.

Hope this helps

Iïve just seen a full hd samsung plasma 50" on play.com for £999.99 (£1299.99 RRP) - Series 5 50" PS50B55.

Itïs out in 2 days, the spec looks good, but Iïd wait for a review from whf before buying.

p.s. i donït work for play.com, iïm sure there are equally good prices at amazon and elsewhere online
