Advice needed for setting up Dac Magic plus to Cyrus amp & cd player

Hi

As you can tell i am very clueless with this stuff

Have just bought from Richer Sounds a Cambridge Dac Magic Plus, have had an unsuccessful attempt to set it up in my system - bit rushed i think

Have a Cyrus CD8 cd player and a Cyrus 8 amp, have got a fibre optic cable going from the dac to the cd, and a pair of rca cable going into the back of the amp. Switched the dac on, lights flas etc but the dac does not seem to do anything

If any one can help with tips - advice that would be great, i am not even sure which connections to put the rca cables to on the amp

I'm not sure what you want the DAC for. I would connect the CD8 straight to the amp. It should sound better than going through the extra stage. Try and get a refund from Richer sounds or exchange it for the Cyrus power supply for the CD8.

Connections would be digital out from the CD to digital In 1 (say) on the CA. make sure the input is set to correspond (to Digital 1). Line out from CA to one of the line-ins on the amp, making sure the amp is set to the corresponding line in.

Don't understand why you would want a budget DAC involved in the system that you have, especially as no streaming is involved?
