Hello all,

I'm looking for a top DAB+ transport. Does anyone have direct experience and can recommend one?

The idea is to feed the signal from it via digital coax into my new Accuphase DC-1000.

Big thanks in advance!

Can you explain exactly what you are after.
Do you mean receiver? As, surely, a transport per se cannot exist.
The DAB signal needs a decoder and, as far as I am aware, your DAC cannot do that
No doubt someone will come along to tell me I am wrong..... 🙂
Can that DAC decode AAC+ signal?

You can’t turn a sow’s ear into a silk purse. DAB in my experience is notably inferior to internet streaming or good old FM radio. It’s fine in a car, but would never be my choice at home for quality, despite its relative convenience if you have a good signal.

Like Al, I’ve never heard of a transport for any source other than discs. Maybe you mean another acronym, like DVD or SACD?

Your first sentence was exactly what I felt like adding....

I think I still have my old DAB stacked up in a pile with the rest of the discarded stuff in my garage!

I appreciate it's about personal choices, I suspect though, it was a miswording?
Do you mean DAC with a digital transport; i.e. separate cd loading mechanism with or without USB option or a unit without CD option that enables you to attach your music files on your SSD/USB/server?
Thus enabling you to play music through the DAC?
Is this what you were referring to?

Hopefully he will return to explain as that's not how I read it.

Thanks everyone for the input. I'm after a device that can receive DAB+ signal and input it into my DAC for processing.

A high-end receiver for DAB+ without a DAC (Or with a possibility to bypass the DAC). Most of the devices, including the ones listed above, as far as I can see, process the DAB+ signal via internal DAC.

Something like Accuphase T-1200 but not for FM, for the DAB+.

I have the top sources for SACD, Vinyl and Streaming, the only one I miss is DAB+.

Thanks!

Whats your budget £399 to £10,000

Thanks! The first one I know, but doesn't look very high-end. I may be wrong, but Pro-Ject is not exactly excellent.

The second one could fit the bill, but 10k for a device with this kind of build quality and that remote (!!!). Have you seen the remote? It looks like 100$ Akai/Aiwa from the 1990. Just the looks of it make me cringe 😁

For the budget I would like to stay between 5-10k, nothing extravagant.

Thanks!

I think you'll be very lucky to find one. Most DAB receivers will be designed with an inbuilt decoder.
I fear you might be looking for a unicorn.....
I note you still haven't mentioned if your DAC could decode an AAC+ signal any even if you could find to give it one.

Ah thanks for the clarification.
DAB plus, the Roberts Blutune 300L comes to mind.
I believe it has USB connecting option, though not sure it is input or output, worth looking into.
I believe it's selling on Amazon for £299.
I suspect you're looking for an audiophile unit that is reflective of your higher budget.
Loewe DAB+ tend to cater for the higher budget.
Good luck

Wei

I certainly don't.
But I do listen to radio, casually.
The FM has been switched off where I live, otherwise it would have been Accuphase T-1200.
Need to find something similar for DAB+!
I’ve honestly never heard of such device, and I’ve been interested in Hifi for almost fifty years. Internet streaming is the way to go, and I speak as a once devout fan of FM.

That's a good question and to be honest, I don't know. I'll try it!

It's really a shame that FM has been switched off. Internet radio is OK, but the pleasure of having a physical tuner is something else for me!

And I'm running out of things to plug into my new shiny DAC - currently it only has SACD transport attached, which is as shame, since it sounds wonderful.

Thanks!

Well I hope you eventually find one.
