Hi All,

I am looking for mains cables and found these -

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Belden-83803-Mains-Power-Cable-SILVER-Plug-1-metre_W0QQitemZ220347769292QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Computing_CablesConnectors_RL?hash=item334dc021cc&_trksid=p4634.c0.m14.l1262

The cable itself is very hi spec and silly money to buy as it is only available on a roll at £400 for 20m !!

I am hoping to use (to start with) on my amp and plug directly into wall socket (nice new unswitched socket and fed from a direct spur from the consumer unit) rather than conditioning block as this is what I have been recommended to do.

If anyone has tried it or can pass an opinion then I would be very grateful.

Cheers Si

Hi Soulton,

I can't comment on the cable you have noted, however I have recently purchased a mains cable from Mark Grant Cables for my LCD, and it had made a difference. The cable is very well made and not too expensive, order it one day get it the next.

No problem, one other thing, I forgot to mention that I have a dedicated mains loops from my consumer unit. I was always in two minds about using a mains conditioner, if you do get one can you let me know if you do notice any difference. I have asked on other forums but there aren't too many people lucky enough to have dedicated loops, so feedback has been zero.

Hi Lambechop,

I ordered a Tacima last Friday (Amazon £23.70 new and delivered !) so should have it connected by the end of this week and will report back then.

Cheers Si.

Hi Lambchop,

Apologies for the delay - there was a mix up by Amazon so only got the Tacima last Wednesday.

I have plugged my amp in it so far and have not noticed a major improvement so this could be that my Monster HTS1000 and dedicated mains spur is already doing a good job. I plan to have a play around this week and try my display, sky HD etc in it.

I will probably end up plugging my amp direct into the wall socket, but I am worried about no spike protection etc. I have found that Russ Andrews seems to be the only company offering a lead with spike protection (they call superclamp). The problem is that I need 1.5m with a Wattgate IEC (this is where they fit their superclamp) which brings the cost to (IMO) a very expensive £150 ! and the superclamp needs replacing after 5 years !

I will update hopefully Sunday.

Thanks for bearing with me.
