ADM40 for sale - Information

If a seller is willing to represent their items in this way, do you really think they'll be a pleasure to deal with afterwards.

The eBay discription describes them as new ADM40's but they're really damaged items. They were (literally) dropped off the back of a lorry. It'd be possible to send them back to AVI for repair though.

Despite all their claims to the contrary, you'd be surprised how little eBay G-A-S. They're good(ish) if you're the buyer and you complain afterwards, but they don't seem too interested in prevention, unless you're reporting the sale of disallowed items. I've reported items with misleading descriptions on many occasions and the items never get pulled or amended. So these days I've decided there's better things to waste my energy on.

They're not poorly turned out, they were dropped by the courier and are damaged (marked, a dented tweeter and the digital inputs don't work). The manufacturer has identified them as known to be damaged despite the vendor description to stop an unsuspecting buyer paying too much. I don't think that's an unreasonable thing to do.

It is not really my place to defend AVI but imo that is just a silly comment Alec. Not sure what you are trying to achieve here but I do wonder if the MD of Naim would personally intervene if one of his products happens to be mis-described on ebay?

Knowing a little bit about how he operates I'm pretty sure AVI will do their best to fix these speakers as best as they can and as cost effective as they can should an unsuspecting punter end up with them. However, at that price thats pretty unlikely.

It's not about caring, it's simply that these have been identified in advance of the end of the sale, so warning people of the risk is the right thing to do.

If the speakers are in such a bad shape, and the seller is finally, thanks to Alec, aware of this and had still done nothing, can we assume that you, or Max, etc., will be in touch with Ebay to advise them of your concerns, assuming the seller hasn't updated and corrected the listing?
