About not using a Sub with music

Hi,

I have the subwoofer cross over set at 80Hz and alls well in 5.1.

I was just wondering however, that when I switch to 2 channel stereo for music on my reciever, does this negate the setting I applied for the cross over and send the full frequency range to my front L & R speakers?

Depends whether your receiver is set up to use fronts plus sub in stereo, or just the fronts.

The display on the reciever is only showing 2 little squares that represent the front L & R. The Subwoofer icon is not showing. Does this mean it's not cutting and re-directing the lower frequencies? Just wanted a second opinion to be sure.

Also whilst listening to some dancey stuff via spotify (not my usual genre) I've noticed that with the sub on (Epos Els) it certainly is louder and more Oomphy, however, the bass appears to sound less tight and more dispersed.

My fronts are B&W 684's.
