Check your VIDEO output setting is set to either 1080P or 720P (depending on the capabilities of your TV) do not have it on "auto"

Hope this helps

Cofnchtr - Not likely. A Pioneer BDP51FD is arriving tomorrow. I will test this player with my Onkyo and see what the outcome is like.

The Pioneer BDP51FD has arrived. I have hooked it up to the Onkyo (no change in setting) and the display shows DTS-HD Master and TrueHD.

That means that the issue lies with the PanaBD35 and not the Onkyo.

The Pioneer sure takes a longer time to load and read discs compared to the Pana, which is understandable since the Pana is Profile 2.0.

I'm now evaluating the quality of picture and sound between both players.

Glad you've solved the problem!

There's a software update available for the 51FD. I applied it, but not sure it makes it much faster to load to be honest.

The Casino Blu-ray takes an incredibly long time - you could take a shower in the time it takes to bring up the main menu!

You're a funny guy, ElectroMan

. The Pioneer is really nice and expensive looking though, unlike the Pana.

How do you update the Pioneer btw, since it doesn't have an ethernet connection?

Here's the download link (third one down) - I burned it to a CD-RW and it worked fine.

The 51FD certainly looks the business, and I do love it!

I'm glad it's worked for you. Wizard!

I don't see the download link, ElectroMan. I've been on the Pioneer website and they don't appear to have an update for the 51FD.

This is where I went to, ElectroMan, but there doesn't appear to be an update for the 51FD, as you can see...it's all for the LX models (unless I'm missing something here!!)

Anyway, after having given the Pioneer a test run with comparative side by side tests with the Pana BD35, I have decided to keep the BD35.

Picture quality on the BD35, on my tv at least, is superior to the Pioneer (unbelievable, but true!), although sound is definitely better on the Pioneer, but considering the many limitations of the Pioneer, it's headed for E-Bay.

I will only upgrade to a BD55, and nothing else.

I have a BD55 and an Onkyo 875, and having looked at your settings, I think you need to make one alteration, i.e, to the Sound ----> MPEG Audio (change this to PCM) while leaving the other two as Bitstream (as you have rightly done).

This should sort out your predicament.

Works with any blu-ray disc's now. The appropriate soundtrack shows on the display of the Onkyo.
