Just about to start building my cinema room based on a Sony VPL-HW10 projector, Onkyo 876 receiver and 5.1 Kef 3005se.

I don't think the dimensions of the room merit a 7.1 setup, there just wouldn't be room to really distinguish between the two rear channels. I'm therefore thinking of going 6.1

My question is would I be better off getting another Kef centre speaker or could I get by with another satellite?

Thanks

I would go with a sat - keep the balance right.

Unless things have changed recently 3005's can only be bought in pairs.

Might be worth getting the 2. On the Onkyo set-up, it asks you if the 2 rears are close or further apart. So it'll happily calibrate them if they're near each other.

Obviously, if you can only buy them in pairs, the decisions been made for you.

At the moment there are very few 7.1 soundtracks anyway, but I think you will get a more enveloping surround effect with the two rear speakers. ÿMost of the time they will obviously be playing the same thing with 5.1 material matrixed by the amp using PLiix or something similar. ÿI find this works well for Premiership soccer on Sky Sport, for example. ÿSometimes it's like you're in the crowd!!

Quick look around and seems NSYGrinner is correct. Bummer. Hmm will have a think whether it is worth it. Thanks all
