Apparently it was a scam to get thousands of people to join Amazon Prime in the faint hope of getting a bargain TV.

Of course Prime Days and invite only offers are meant to entice people to join Prime. Whether you consider it a scam or not depends on perspective. Prime memberships usually offer 30 days free membership which you can cancel anytime. Even if you include the Prime subscription fee for the year, the TV still comes out far cheaper.

Sure, but you can always cancel your subscription. First 30 days are free. For me personally, Prime subscription is a no-brainer. I watch quite a bit of Prime video and usually order from Amazon. Besides, I also got free Deliveroo deliveries because of it, it was a surprise perk.
