the answer is yes if..

you buy a sony 3d bluray player

you buy a samsung 3d bluray player

you buy an lg 3d bluray player

NO if you buy a panasonic 3d bluray player , they have two hdmi outs , one for sound , a normal , current 1.3 spec hdmi lead will suffice , and the other for the 3d picture ..

it seems that many people are unaware of this , your current av receiver is not compatible with 3d unless you buy a panasonic player ..

the question then must be , why not buy one ?

there has been much talk about 3d , but i feel many people still do not realise that their current av receivers and hdmi leads will be fine only if they buy a panny 3d player , hence this thread

Andrew Everard:But then again, Panasonic don't make AV receivers in any serious fashion, so surely it's in the company's interest to offer this USP...

of course they arent , but on the rare occasion when one company bucks the trend , and provides a money saving product to consumers , in the face of competition that blatantly done the opposite for their own (in this instance misguided) financial gain , then we should highlight and rejoice their welcome deviation from the usual capitilist principals

Exactly. But let's not allow that to stand in the way of Max's Panafanboidom, eh?

Be a shame to spoil the illusion...........

illusion ? the panny 3d bluray players are the only ones that have two hdmi outs , meaning upgrading to a 3d amp is not necessary , if samsung or sony were the only company to offer such players , i would highlight that too , wouldnt everyone ?
