For years I've used Audioquest Type IV biwired, single core speaker cable. Been really happy with it but, having read round in recent months on the web about the greater importance of the cable's construction and properties as opposed to the name of the box, I found some of this stuff on Ebay. I'd been prepared to hand over about £1 a metre, so a tenner all in. Digitalis Direct, who have an Ebay shop, had 10m of this for £5.49 shipping included. The cable itself is multi-strand, with a transparent sheath and that's it. Didn;t even come in a box, just cut, put in a padded enevelope and in the post. Spent half an hour hooking it all up, creating some new cable jumpers from some banana plugs and spare wire and plugged them in. Oh, I also went from bi-wire to single runs. Popped a CD on and away we went. I won't wax lyrical, they're very good, excellent in fact and I miss nothing from the music and enjoy it as much, if not moreso than before. There may be a slight improvement in definition, space, detail, but to be honest, I can't be bothered comparing to the AQ it replaced as it's a different construction, different application and it's not like for like. I'll be sticking with it though, very pleased indeed and easier to plug into the Sansui spring clip terminals on the amp! I will say, however, that I'd recommend anyone to give it a try and yes, that's ten metres for £5.49 but don't be fooled by the price; this is capable stuff.
