24p playback from a DVD?

Hello,

While browsing for info on the Panasonic BD35, I came across this passage:

"The DMP-BD35 produces 1080/24p output. It reproduces cinema images from
a Blu-ray disc or DVD in their original 24p form with no need for
conversion. Users can enjoy a cinema image in the same format used in
cinemas, via a 1080/24p TV."

So does this mean that the BD35 will offer better (smooth, judder free) DVD playback (24p as in the original cinema release) than what is possible with a regular DVD player (outputting 25 fps I would assume).

Is this common to all BD players or is this a unique Panasonic feature?

Thanks for the reply!

But then wouldn't you agree that the statement:

"...reproduces cinema images from a Blu-ray disc or DVD in their original 24p form..."

is rather misleading?

There has been some talk (but no actual product) of some DVDs being released in 24fps - so Panasonic could be covering potential future developments.
