2 amps 1 set of speakers

Hi

i have just bought a pair of monitor audio rx6 speakers to use in my current av set up powered by a denon 2312 receiver, I'm looking to get a better stero performance from this and am considering a stereo amp.

basically my question is, is it possible to wire the speakers with jumper bananas plugs and two lots of speaker cables, one pair going to the av amp and one going to the stereo amp, before going to each amp though could I get a switch so that only one amp is powering the speakers? I know that I could go down the pre out route but don't really want to have to have two amps running when I use it for av use.

im almost considering just getting the stero amp setting it all up with cables going to the speakers but manually connecting them and disconnecting the av cables when I want to listen to music but would the above option work?
