Hello, searching for help on google I stumbled upon this site. I have an Onkyo TX-NR646 which came with an included 5.1 set of speakers, they are good for movies, games and normal usage but not that great for music. I'm no audiophile but I'd like to have a better listening experience therefore I was thinking about adding a 2.1 mainly for music listening and maybe throughout next year expand it to a 5.1 setup replacing all the speakers. My room isn't big, it's 18 m², average size I guess. My budget would be 500 euro, but I could add something to that or I could either get the 2 speakers now and after a month or so the sub. Any advice? I don't really know where to start from. Should I get floorstading speakers or bookshelf ones? Anything over the included speakers would seem like another world to me when listening to music so I don't pretend or expect to get anything special with the money I'm willing to spend, just want to have a 2.1 decent setup xD. Thanks for the help.

I think the dali ikon 1 mk2 will give you a nice step up in Sq,they're a cracking deal at the moment at around £300 ish or less, they were around £500 when released.Floorstanding units will probably be a bit overbearing in your room and no need if you plan on adding a sub at a later date,I prefer standmounts with the more refined and detailed sound they tend to have over floordtanders especially at this kind of budget.

Thanks for the suggestion; I can't seem to find these anywhere in Italy, except on ebay where they sell them at prices starting from 700 to 800 euro which is a bit too much for me. On online stores I find mostly Klipsch, JBL, Canton, Indiana Line, Yamaha and Wharfedale; honestly I don't even know other names besides these xD. For example on a certain famous store they have the Wharfedale Diamond 10.6 at 400 euro but they are floorstanding and I don't know if they are any good to begin with.

I have a 343 and connect with 685s2, I mainly listen to cds, sometimes movies, and stream music from iphone, for movies sound effect is involving enough, for music sometimes the bass is a little flat, but otherwise so far so good. You probably will have better experience with 646.
