2.1 for the tv but also as an independant stereo

I am looking for a 2.1 system for the tv that can also be used an independant stereo that can receive mp3's wirelessly. I know that surround sound systems come with small satillite speakers, is there any reason for this apart from discretion? Some set up recommendations would also be appreciated. My budget will be set by what is required.

Just looked at some threads and when I said budget set whats required the max i have is around 1200. The wireless option is a luxury and I could excuse this for now.

Ive been away from here for quite a while and not finding this set up very intuitive, having to disable rich text, be shown the post with symbols in ranndom places then preview and save instead of post? am i missing something obvious?
