2.1 Amplifier

Can anyone recommend a good 2.1 amplifier, where I can use my subwoofer both for two channel music and surround, when using the home theater input with my receiver?

The ones I know of so far are:

Parasound Halo Integrated

Parasound P5 preamp

Lyngdorf TDAI 2170

Sorry, I can't recommend anything but I'm curious as to how you would wire it up. Presumably, when using it as a stereo amp, you would use inputs to the new 2.1 amp which would include its own volume control but when using it to power the fronts in a cinema system you'd want the cinema receiver to balance the channel volumes so you'd want the pre-amp outs of the receiver to go to a power-amp ins on the stereo amp to cut out independent volume control of the fronts.

My second question is how you would allow the LFE channel to pass through the stereo amp if the sub was connected to the stereo amp?

A Devialet has a good Sub out option, but I have no idea how you would like this with your Receiver.

What's the problem with the receiver? Surely this can be set up as a 2.1 amp.

Why the need for another amp?

FWIW the Yamaha AS301 has a sub out as does the Onkyo A-9050
