Hi all,

I want to buy a Nas and the one that keeps drawing me too it is the Qnap 212P.

I would buy the Nas 2nd hand but buy new hard drives for it - Western Digital Red ones seem to be the popular choice but any reccomendations would be grateful.

I have a lot of Apple things tv, pad and phone.

I want my iTunes libarary to be put onto the Nas - is this all possible with the Qnap and will it all intergrate okay ?

Also, if I only got one drive to start off with can I add a 2nd drive to back up the 1st drive at a latter date ? Hopefully that makes sense !

As you can tell I am a bit of a novice in it all.

Many thanks.

I use a Synology 213j, works fine for me, and I've got a spare enclosure

Hi PS.

I have just been through the NAS replacement process.Synology

Account = admin

Password = synology

2/ Qnap

Account = qnap

Password = qnap

They will both do I-tunes libraries so it’s up to you. Can’t say I recommend second hand units for this sort of thing but that’s a budget question. I bought the Synology pre-loaded with 2 x 1 tera WD red drives.

Hope this helps.

I would get a Drobo NAS. I have a Drobo (non-NAS) version connected to my iMac and it is on this I store all my downloaded music and CD rips. I don't import anything into iTunes, but have the music folders referenced by iTunes.

Hi,

Can't help with itunes library as I don't use itunes! I know Synology has itunes but really can't help you in that department...

But you will not need itunes, just copy all the contend in your PC into the New NAS and then you can use the app, in Synology case, can't help you either in QNAP, that is called DS Audio, and works with IOS, Android and Windows.
