Hi peeps, only two weeks till the big 40th and my 1st Blu-ray player. Received mail from RS, the pioneer 320 and & Sony 760 can be had for £200. It will be connected to my Yamaha RXV2400 (no hdmi) so either optical on both or analogue multichannel on Sony. Picture will be on Sammy 50" hd ready enabled with 1080p/24p. Which will give best sound and picture combo?? So which should I buy or do you recommend any others for £200. Thanks :)

It's got to be the Sony S760!

Another option is the Panasonic BD85.

Hi sta99y, if you want to, ( And you will) avail of the HD Audio you'll need to get the Sony as they have multichannel analogue whereas the Pioneer does'nt. You won't get HD Audio over optical........

I did think people would of said the pioneer for picture and as for sound I know it only has the digital output which doesn't carry the HD sound. The Sony will carry HD sound thru the multichannel but then so will the LG & Panny. Couple of pounds more so would you have no doubt in saying the Sony still even if I had the extra £20 or so?? It just needs to be a worthwhile purchase as I'm not made of money lol.

I would still go for the Sony, but then if you really need the extra features the lg is a great choice too, About the PQ and SQ, PQ difference will be very marginal, but for sound it is much worth to get the analogue outs and have HD audio you will not regret that,

I hear what your saying 501 but lots of other ppl on other forums constantly say that the analogue outputs are flawed across the brands of players that are below £500!! They strongly recommend the lower priced LG & Samsungs to re-encode at the higher 1.5mbs (I think that's right) so it plays DTS core. That is why it's confusing when you want to buy the correct player!!

Do others agree or disagree with the above comments on multichannel analogues being flawed on players below £500?? Can the re-encode sound better than multichannel??

My head is hurting lol

Cheers big boss. I was surprised at how many ppl on the other other forums have said that they prefer the re-encode over the analogue route. I'm sure my friend at RS will advise me and even demo a couple.
Cheers anyway
